Professional non-I.T. geek in a strange little niche field. Happily partnered with TOBill on here in Toronto. Started growing my beard in university (bought me 15 minutes' extra sleep each morning not having to shave). It's become a bit of a trademark amongst my professional associates, and I've wound up regretting it each time I've tried trimming it, so I mostly don't. In wintertime it tends to keep the icicles at least four inches away from my face proper, which helps make the weather seem less freezing. In summertime, it tends to keep away those who by appearance judge me unworthy of conversation or worthy of ridicule. It also sometimes gets me harrassed at border crossings, but I'm still not taking it off!
