I just read Mark Doty's book, Dog Years: a memoir. It's awesome!

I'm an artist and academic living in Providence, RI. I mostly make visual images -- paintings and photographs -- but I'm trying my hand at writing and performance these days, too. I'm a figurative painter and am always looking for models -- especially bearish guys.

I tend to be gleefully cranky, sometimes reclusive, and often shy. I’m looking to make friends with cool guys. I love comic books and cooking.

So, yeah, I'm queer. And I know from the front page of Mybeard that there's some drama about that on this site. I'm not looking to hook up and my homo-ness isn't spreading. If I "friend" you, it means I think you have cool facial hair and that, perhaps, you're a cool guy. We can all use friends, ya know?
