Wide variety from classical (especially piano) to 50's (the birth of rock'n roll and my generation.

The fact I might name a variety from "Gone With the Wind" to "Forrest Gump" might give you an idea that I am older. LOL I have had lots of special favorites. I suppose my favorite type is a variety of reality. I love historical fiction through which I learn what another time might have been like or recall one that I remember from my own lifetime.

Oh so many. Reading has been the greatest pastime of my life. As a boy on the farm, it was my way of discovering what the rest of the world must be like. We currently belong to a gay men's book club based in Dallas that dates back to late 1999. It's fun to discuss our opinions of authors, popular books, and all-time great novels.

Horseback riding, reading, genealogy. I grew up on a farm in a rodeo family and had five horses of my own (sequentially) in my growing up years. I also worked two wonderful summers during college as a wrangler in the Rocky Mountains. For a while my daughter and I owned registered paint horses.

I spent much of my life elsewhere, but in 1999 I came home to Texas, where my roots go back six generations. I was married for 13 years and divorced for 16 before I came to terms with who I really am sexually. I do not regret my marriage. I am sorry that it was doomed to fail. I have three grown children and nine grandchildren and counting.

I taught school for 30+ years in a wide variety of settings: urban, rural, private, and public. I taught Spanish and English and ESL. I will know you're really an educator if you know what ESL is. I was also one of the earliest Peace Corps volunteers and based in Ecuador.

It's nice to be in a time when wanting to have a beard does not necessarily mean that one is a rebel.

I've been partnered for almost five years with the wonderful young man beside me in the photo. His name is Charlie.
