About Me: I am Robert (pronounced Robear), an artist – fine art sculptor, mask maker and illustrator – living in Ojai, Southern California.
Interested in art, classical music (renaissance and baroque, plus a good measure of classic rock), coffee, fine wines and creative gastronomy, French culture, Ancient Egypt, European Renaissance (and attending Renaissance Faires too), period costuming, staying reasonably fit and healthy, following my own path spiritually.
I do not smoke. I'll have a glass of wine or two with dinner or in good company, and the occasional beer when the food and/or weather suggest it.
Three great passions: Ancient Egypt, Bearded & Longhaired Men, Renaissance Period. Not necessarily in that order. My personal slant is that men always look better with facial hair (especially when over 40), and that also applies to long hair, if they can grow it.
About Beards: I didn't grow a beard until I turned 40, back in 1995, and now could not imagine myself without one. I tend to distrust "clean-shaven" men. All of my best male friends are bearded, and given my orientation, facial hair is a prerequisite to feel any form of attraction. Beards rule! After experimenting with letting my beard grow for a full six months in the first half of the year, I have now decided that I want to let it grow very long, terminal length if it gets to that. A recent trim just before I went to visit family in early August will most likely be the last. I sometimes put color in my beard – not so much to hide the years – but to complement characters I play and costumes I wear at the Renaissance Faire and other such events.
About friend requests: I welcome you to add me as a friend, as long as doing so has meaning for the both of us, and that we can engage in conversation. In other words, have something to share with me. We are not teenagers collecting friends on MySpace for the sake of it, I believe.
